Hello! We are Hannah and Bill Pearce

Bill bought Hillside Farm in 1976. He's used his land for a variety of agricultural endeavors, but in 2009 he started focusing on pastured poultry, and a few years later in 2013, he purchased our cider press to start harvesting the trees he had planted almost 20 years prior.

Hannah joined the farm business in 2016. Growing up on this land inspired Hannah to join her father in farming, seeing that providing healthful, ethical food ties us to our community in an inspiring and meaningful way. Being able to provide good food to my friends, neighbors, and community members is a humbling privilege.

As the Family Farm seems more and more like a thing of the past, here in Albany, our family is forging a new tradition of the old practice. Young learning from Not-So-Young, a second generation giving the business vitality and sustainability, and a new legacy of farming beginning. We are inspired by the other small farms in our community and region, their innovation, their passion, and their steadfastness to produce excellent food in our sometimes unforgiving climate.

And of course, Eka

Because what is a farm without a farmdog? Ekalaka, otherwise known as Eka or Wiggle, was born on Hillside Farm land, and is happiest right here with her two humans, overseeing chores, booping chickens, and very nervously pretending she is part of the turkey flock. Built like a barrel and lacking any herding instincts, Eka is our daily reminder to enjoy our existence in our green pastures.

Peaks into life at Hillside Farm…
